Handloom saris are a traditional textile art of Bangladesh and India. Handwoven The Santipuri saree is named after Santipur in the Nadia District of West Bengal. Fine cotton yarn ranging from the 60s to 100s is used both in warp and weft. The Sarees from Santipur are famous for the elegant designs such as Ganga-Jamuna, Benkipar, Bhomra, Rajmahal, Ansar, Do-Rookha, Visva-Bharati, Brindamani Mour-Par, Nilambari. The Santipuri saree is a Geographical Indication (GI) product of Bengal.. The production of handloom saris are important for economic development in rural India.Completion of a single sari takes two to three days of work. Several regions have their own traditions of handloom saris. The most traditional are made in West Bengal. -
